Adult Programs |
Young At Heart
Senior members and some non-members over 55 attend Young at Heart. Dinner is prepared once a month by the members with games and laughter afterward. The "more seasoned" adults have a wonderful time with lunch and games and jokes. At times, trips are planned and the group spends time together visiting apple farms in fall, seeing the country together, or just eating an occasional ice cream on a road trip. This is a wonderful time for this group to strengthen each other through prayer and devotions and fellowship. This young at heart group of Presbyterians, Baptists and Methodists spends time in close fellowship with each other. It is a joyous group for all congregations.
Salt Shakers
If you want to get in a small group and meet your fellow members, Salt Shakers is the place for you. Groups are chosen twice a year and meet at restaurants, homes, parks, and other places of the groups' chosing. Usually a set of 8 members have supper together 4 times during the fall and then the "shake up" comes. New groups are formed and then those 8 meet for 4 times in the spring. This continues with new members added and old members signing up each fall and spring. Some groups contain only adults while other groups choose to include their children. The Salt Shakers group gets to know each other through dinner and laughter and games in some groups. The group sets the tone for the season. Come join a group and meet a friend!
Monday Prayer Group
Monday Prayer Group meets every Monday at 10:00 AM. You are invited to come and pray for individuals, the community, our church, or our nation. Prayer requests can be submitted in writing on Sunday morning, calling the church, or submitting a prayer request through the website. This prayer group meets to offer prayer for the ill, prayer for joys in the community, church, and nation and prayers for individual needs. The group is open to anyone who feels the need to pray for others and uplift needs and joys to God. Prayer can also be done alone by reviewing the Wester Tract each month for prayer requests or needs.
Safe Havens for Children
Safe Havens for Children is sponsored by the MPC to serve foster families and biological parents of the children of foster families. In safe places of visit, the foster parents drop the child off at MPC where volunteers encourage and nourish safe visits for the child and the biological family. This aids the Department of Family and Children Services with expanded visitation hours and making a beautiful, safe and caring place for visits. The children are afforded playground equipment, indoor playrooms, and caring volunteers who carefully gauge the visitations with watchful eyes. Foster children are safe and happy in MPC.
